Mario Cruz
Muralist  2005-2007
Mario received his Certificate of Painting from the Pennsylvania Academy in 1998, his BFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001, and his Single Subject Teaching Credential from San Bernardino’s National University this year.

His professional experience includes Visual Arts Instructor and Artist-In-Residence for the Riverside Arts Council, traveling to various elementary and middle schools in Riverside County School Districts to educate students following the California Standards for the Visual Arts. Daily responsibilities include introducing two-dimensional media for long and short term art projects, improving art vocabulary, executing drawing and painting examples, monitoring individual student growth with creativity and retention.

His commissions have included “¿Qué es un heroé? (What Is A Hero?)” in 2001, a tile mosaic, for the Center for Hispanic Excellence at the University of Pennsylvania, “A Tribute To Civil Rights” in 2002, an acrylic mural for the Roberto Clemente Recreational Center in Philadelphia, and “The Best American Flag” in 2003, an acrylic mural at Jefferson Elementary School in Corona.

This year he began creating “Corona Lemon Culture”, an acrylic mural at Corona Heritage Park with the Artist-In-Residence program.
